Method

How to Make Kashmiri Pink Tea
  1. In a large pot, combine the green tea leaves, baking soda, crushed cardamom, and water. Bring to a rolling boil, then reduce to a simmer, aerating by whisking occasionally until the mixture is reduced by half, around 30 minutes.
  2. Pour in a splash of cold water to halt the boiling process. This little trick helps enhance the vibrant pink color that makes this tea so special!
  3. Gradually stir in the whole milk, then return the mixture to a simmer. Allow it to bubble gently until you see that beautiful pink hue, which should take about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Once your tea has turned the desired color, add salt to taste, then strain the tea into your favorite cups, ensuring a smooth serving.
  5. Enjoy your Kashmiri Pink Tea hot, preferably with a sprinkle of crushed pistachios or almonds on top for a lovely finishing touch!

Notes

For the best results, always use high-quality green tea leaves and aerate the tea by whisking while simmering. Add cold water quickly to preserve the color. Don't rush the simmering time after adding milk to achieve the desired pink shade.
